 What is the overall goal of the Project: Address community poverty-related needs by strengthening the community and the development of community infrastructure through a community building process. The process will engage individual citizens, citizen groups, and agencies to address community needs and will enable the community to develop and implement a strategic plan resulting in sustainable activities to meet community needs.

Planned Period of Work

Goal (from VISTA Project Plan):
Work on Preservation Project continuing to build stability and integrity of the artifacts housed at the Center. Working to preserve the heritage of the collections and history of the MonDak region and continuing to educate the public of the importance of the heritage of the area.

Activity 1: Work on implementing the Preservation Plan
Step 1: Meet with Collection Committee and review preservation plan.
Step 2: Working closely with the Center Coordinator, Staff and Collection Committee, follow through with the recommendations of the committee to implement the preservation plan.        
Step 3: Properly label collections and input data into Past Perfect.
Step 4: Properly package collections and put them back into the vault following a plan made up with the Staff, Collection Committee and VISTA s.

Activity 2: Work on new exhibits
Step 1: Working with the Staff and other VISTA to come up with ideas and  plans for rotating and permanent exhibits, and help put the plan into  action.

Activity 3: Work on long term, high dollar fundraiser. Find and apply for grants to be used for collection preservation.
Step 1: Individual will work with the Staff and other VISTA to find new ideas for Fundraisers. 
Step 2: Help coordinate long-range plan for implementing a big money fundraiser, meeting with staff and committee members.
Step 3: Look for appropriate grants to fill the needs of the Center; specifically proper lighting in the collections area and correct storage containers and shelving for the collections.
Step 4: Meet regularly with staff to discuss grants and fill out proper paperwork for said grants.
