Mothers and Children
The Richland County Health Department is actively involved in a variety of activities related to the health of women and children in our county. One of the main forces behind our activities is the Maternal Child Health Block Grant that we receive. This is your tax dollars at work since the MCH grant is distributed to the states from the federal government as part of the Title V of the Social Security Act http://mchb.hrsa.gov/programs/.
Examples of activities that RCHD uses block grant funding for include:
informing and educating
monitoring health status
participating in child find activities with the schools in our county
vision and hearing screenings in the schools
child care health consultation
immunization activities
