The Richland County Planning Department provides services in development and growth through planning, zoning, subdivision review, buildings for lease or rent review, workforce housing zoning review, parks, transportation, and addressing the needs of the communities in Richland County, Montana.

The County Planner provides staff support to Richland County, the unincorporated areas in Richland County and the Town of Fairview; if you need assistance for areas within the city limits of the City of Sidney please contact the City Office


The City/County Planning Board is comprised of three Boards: Sidney Planning Jurisdictional Area, Fairview Planning Jurisdictional Area and Richland County. Each Board's mission statement is found in the 2015 Growth Policies, links are provided below. 

Public Hearing

The Town Council of the Town of Fairview will on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall located at 318 South Central Avenue, Fairview, Montana hold a public hearing to accept input on whether Town of Fairview should adopt amendments to the 2016 Town of Fairview Subdivision Regulations to reflect the changes recommended by the City/County Planning Board and County Planner. The draft amendments are available for viewing at the Town Hall and at the County Planner Office at 123 West Main Street, Sidney, Montana.
