The Richland County Law Enforcement Association was formed in 1977 to better the law enforcement officers that live and work within the boundaries of Richland County. R.C.L.E.A. is a non-profit organization, with the purpose to promote and protect the professional, personal and social welfare of the peace officers and their departments within the State of Montana; and to educate and train the members of the Association in police work and procedures with training programs that affect the efficient and orderly functions of law enforcement. The Association is to promote better understanding and good will among the general public for police activities and problems within Richland County.

Members are required to be sworn full-time law enforcement officers who reside within Richland County representing city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Present membership represents the Sidney Police Department, Fairview Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, and Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

The Association is made up of members who contribute to the community we serve and protect. Some of our functions include sponsoring youth sports activities, post-prom parties, ribbons for Red Ribbon Week, and a scholarship. Funds of the Association also pay for training and programs we cannot acquire from other sources, such as a shooting range for pistol shoots as well as training schools. Our annual fundraiser, a Magic Show by Jay Owenhouse, supports these activities.
