About LEPC
Richland County LEPC is supervised by the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) and is a subsidiary of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 and the Montana DES District 4 of the Disaster and Emergency Services.

Richland County LEPC is made up of representatives from county, city and other local elected officials, law enforcement, health professionals, emergency management, fire fighting, first aid, hospitals, transportation, broadcast and print media, community groups and delegates of facilities subject to EPCRA
requirements. These participants and all public citizens are welcome to attend our meetings on the second Monday of each month at different locations, except for July and August. Please use the contact information on the left to obtain more information.
The role of the LEPC is to form a partnership with state and local government responders, local industry and community members to aid in development of mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, planning, exercising and training. We are responsible for developing a local emergency plan for our county and for the collection of information submitted by industrial faciltiies which may be made available to the public.
LEPC established an emergency plan to notify the public about actions they must take, notify state and federal government officials in an emergency. This plan, or parts thereof, will be tested annually and the information is available to the public by contacting the Director of Disaster and Emergency Services.
Advantages of having an established LEPC are 1) the ability to identify and provide training needs; 2) to share resources; 3) to build teams that know how to work together; and 4) the ability to choose and apply for appropriate needed community grants, just to name a few.
LEPC serves as a focal point in the community for information and discussion about emergency planning, training and exercising. Citizens may expect the LEPC to answer questions about hazards, risk management actions and homeland security issues.
The official Emergency Alert System radio station is 660 AM KEYZ and in addition, most other local radio and television stations are available to inform the public.
