One of America's most treasured rights is our freedom of speech.  We often think of banned books as the books that are on the "fringe", but you might be surprised at the books that at one time were challenged and banned.  These books helped shape America.  The following is a short list of some of those books.  You can click on the link at the bottom of this article to see resources and a full list.

  • Adventure of Huckleberry Finn
  • Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
  • The Canterbury Tales
  • Cat in the Hat
