What is it?
100 Books Before Graduation is a reading initiative for teens to read 100 books before they graduate from high school. It is modeled after the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, which exposes younger children to books before they begin school.

Countless studies have shown that children and teens who read for enjoyment do better academically and see improvement in their emotional health and well-being. Additionally, reading for pleasure can:
Who can participate?
Students who are entering 9th grade may begin the program the summer after 8th grade. Those who are already in high school may also participate and challenge themselves to finish 100 books, although in a shorter time.
How does it work?
To participate simply register with READsquared and choose the 100 Books Before Graduation program. With READsquared, participants can keep track of what books they read. Participants can even download the READsquared app and easily keep track on their phone.
They can only record books that are finished after the registration date. There is no set list of books to read for this personal reading challenge. Participants can read anything at their reading level. Assigned school reading, audiobooks and graphic novels count too!
What happens when you read 100 books?
Besides being exposed to amazing stories, characters, and authors, participants will earn a prize when they read 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 books! All those who complete 100 Books Before Graduation will receive a certificate and their name will be put on display at the library for bragging rights.
Fun stuff!
At the end of every month, there will be a small prize drawing. Those who have recorded a book during that month will be eligible. Prizes include gift cards, books, novelty toys, and more!
