Montana Asthma Program
The Montana Asthma Home Visiting Program (MAP) is a 12 month in-home education service about asthma, asthma medications and how to get your or your child's asthma under control. The aim is to reduce missed school/work days, and the number of days dealing with asthma symptoms.
MAP is a free service that provides 6 visits with a Registered Respiratory Therapist to help identify household asthma triggers, and provide custom asthma education, resources and referrals to community services.
Montana Asthma Home Visiting participants receive free allergen-free pillow case covers, allergen-free mattress pad covers, and an allergen-reducing filter for the participant's bedroom if they are living in a home with pets or are around smoking.
People eligible for the program include any child or adult with an asthma diagnosis who has had either an emergency department visit, hospitalization or unscheduled office visit for their asthma, or an asthma control test score of less than 20 in the last year. Adults and children that do not meet the eligibility requirements are still able to participate with a direct referral from a healthcare provider.
If you have any questions or would like to sign up with the Montana Asthma Home Visiting Program, please call the Richland County Health Department at 406-433-2207.
