How do I find out RCT's rules, ride information, etc?
Most of your questions including our policies and procedures can be found in our Passenger Handbook; if you have questions that are not answered in the Handbook or on this site please call 433-RIDE (7433).
Why is there a limit on the number of groceries I can bring on the bus?
For safety reasons, we have to be able to secure groceries and packages while you are on board the vehicle. Anything that you are not physically able to hang on to must be secured in one of the provided vehicle bins; this prevents them from becoming a flying hazard in the event of a collision. Each vehicle is equipped with two bins measuring 19.3" L x 13.8" W x 9.2" H.
How do I report suspicious activity such as an unattended package?
In addition to our employees, you can do your part by reporting anything that looks suspicious or out of the ordinary. If you see a suspicious package or activity on board our buses don't keep it to yourself. Tell your bus driver or report it to 433-RIDE (7433).
How much is a ride with RCT?
All rides are free! Rides are subject to availability and ride times may be adjusted within the parameters of our system.
I don't have to be at my destination until 2pm; why are you dropping me off at 1:30?
We try to get you dropped off as close to your requested drop-off time as possible however we sometimes need to adjust it up to 30 minutes to accommodate more passengers. If RCT is dropping you off earlier than you'd like, it is because that is the closest we can get to your time without you being late.
How old does my child have to be to ride on RCT alone?
Children must be at least 8 years of age and must be capable of riding alone. Remember that drop-offs may occur up to 30 minutes ahead of when they are scheduled. If your child would be unsure what to do if this happened, they should not ride alone at this time. Children ages 8-12 who will be riding unattended must have a signed release form on file. Forms are available at the RCTS business office located at 2190 W Holly St, Sidney
What if my child needs a car seat?
Many RCT vehicles have integrated car seats. Please note if your child needs a car seat when scheduling your ride
Why are there audio and video cameras on the bus?
Some of our buses are equipped with audio and video surveillance. These help protect our passengers, drivers, and RCT itself. Only the RCT Coordinator views the tapes and everything in them is kept confidential. You can read our Video Surveillance Policy in the RCT Documents section
Are animals permitted on RCT buses?
Service animals are always welcome aboard RCT buses. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals are permitted but only if they are contained in a pet carrier or held by the passenger. The passenger will be held accountable for any mess or damage associated with the animal. RCT reserves the right to refuse transport of an animal that has previously caused an issue onboard an RCT vehicle
How long will I be on the bus when I schedules a ride?
The amount of time you spend on the bus will vary depending on our scheduled route and the number of people that need to be picked up. Generally you can expect to ride for 15 to 20 minutes; you will never be asked to ride more than 30 minutes
When I schedule my ride, why can't you tell me right away what time you pick me up?
We will be able to give you a window of when your ride will occur. As the time for your ride gets closer, that window will close and you'll get a call, email, or text of the exact time. You'll also get a notification when your bus is 30 minutes away, 5 minutes away, and when it arrives.
