Jury Trial Status Summary

  Jury Information Line available at 406-433-6810 - Accessible 24 hours a day.
Please turn in Questionnaires as soon as possible. Please review your Jury Summons for important dates and deadlines.  If trial is anticipated to last several days, please be prepared to appear for all dates of trial as scheduled until you are released from your Jury Summons by the Court.  Please continue to check this website, or the Jury Information Line, as noted above, for any changes or updates relating to the trial in which you have been summoned.  By receiving a Jury Summons, you have been called to jury service and are required to appear at the date, time, and location as indicated by the Summons. If a Juror Questionnaire was included in the summons packet you received, this Questionnaire must be filled out as completely as possible and returned to the Office of the Clerk of District prior to the deadline indicated in the Summons or personal service by the Richland County Sheriff will follow.

Scheduled Jury Trials
June 19 - 20, 2025 - Trial has cancelled.  Please do not appear on either of those dates.

You may not have received a Juror Questionnaire along with your Jury Summons. If one was not received, this indicates our office already has one on file for you and you will not be required to complete a second questionnaire. 

Jury Selection Process Information

​The Clerk of District Court serves as Jury Commissioner for Richland County. As required by statue, each May the Secretary of State provides a combined list of registered voters, licensed drivers and holders of Montana ID cards to the Clerk of District Court. It is the Clerk’s duty to pull individual jury panels for the District Court Judges upon request.

The jury service term for the Seventh Judicial District, Richland County lasts for one year, beginning on July 1st and ending on June 30th. If your name is chosen for the jury panel for the coming year, a questionnaire will be mailed to you. This form must be completed in its entirety. If you need to be excused for a short period of time, such as a planned vacation, we can make accommodations during those times. If you know what those times are when you complete your annual questionnaire, please list them; otherwise, please call or send us an email and we can make the changes for you.

​If you need to make any changes to your information throughout your Jury term, such as updating your address or telephone numbers, please contact us at 406-433-1709 or by email to [email protected] right away with that information.

Failure to return a questionnaire by the listed deadline for a trial may result in service by the Sheriff.
​Failure to appear for a jury trial may result in contempt of court and/or a fine.
